The 1860's are making a comeback!
This weekend will be one of great assignment at Lost River Cave & Valley. Re-enactors will be traveling from all over to participate in the 5th annual Civil War Living History Days FREE weekend-long event.
This 2 day adventure gives families the opportunity to travel back in time and take part in history as they learn about the history of the Civil War and about the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
This event is available for the entire family and there is something that everyone will enjoy.
Watch periodic battles and skirmishes, listen to Abraham Lincoln give a speech at the wetlands or hear the Lost River Dulcimer Players while you work with a blacksmith or a weaver. These are just a few of the plethora of activities that will be offered at the FREE event.
For more information please visit the events section of our website.
We'd love to see you there!

What a successful Geocaching 101 event we had this past Sunday. Local expert, Danny Bays, educated the public about the sport that is now available at Lost River Cave, geocaching!
Many showed up for the event and everyone enjoyed learning how to properly hunt for geocaches and even try to find a puzzle cache!
Geocaching is one of the many free activities that you can partake in at Lost River. For more information about geocaching, visit the Lost River Website at www.lostrivercave.com!

We hope to see you there!
Jory McCawley and Gabe McGrew visited Lost River Cave yesterday with the "Moms Club of Bowling Green." While they were here, they took a hike! However, the hike wasn't through the woods, it was through the sluice trough! We are always looking for new ways for the youngsters to have fun at the park! Go to www.lostrivercave.com/rocks to receive a discount coupon for a bag of Gem Mining Sluice at Lost River!
Check out these great pictures!

All of these awesome workers came to Lost River Cave and Valley today as part of WKU's MASTERPLAN Program! Students and "Western Leaders" were encouraged to volunteer around the city today, and we were lucky enough to have these great helpers come to the valley! They spent their morning pulling invasive plants from the Wetland, stickered hundreds of sluice bags, and picked up trash along the perimeter of the park!
Thanks to Blair Silliman, MASTERPLAN coordinator and Coordinator of First Year Student Programs, for all of her great work planning this event!

Today we had some excitement at Lost River Cave & Valley!
Because of our unique layout and bridge feature, Chief Johnson, of the BGKY Fire Department, decided to bring some of his men to our bridge to practice a very important rescue technique!
Here are some pictures of the crew perfecting their very, very important skills!
Becky Rigsby, Community Coordinator for the Bowling Green Wal-Mart on Morgantown Road, presents Becky Madison with a $1,000 check to offset costs of the Civil War event that will be held at Lost River Cave & Valley on October 16-18 of this year!
A HUGE thank you to the Wal-Mart corporation and all that they do for Bowling Green and local communities!

There will be themes such as;
- Your favorite "Nite Club" concoction! Send us a food or drink recipe!
- Who has the most beautiful backyard butterflies? Send us your pictures of butterflies!
If you haven't visited us before, be sure to come sometime soon.
We have many exciting activities for the entire family to have a family fun outing. Whether you're traveling from far away or having a "staycation," there are many ways to spend a fun filled day!
If you're trying to beat the heat, take an underground boat tour. As the only one of its kind in the Bluegrass state of Kentucky, you will enter into a different world as you travel, by boat, into the cool air and dim light of Lost River Cave. View the flowstone and the natural breakdown rock as you float through the water.
If you want to stretch your legs, journey through the valley on over 2 miles of nature trails. The trails are a part of our 68 acre park in the heart of metropolitan Bowling Green, KY!
For a unique feature, flutter on down to the butterfly habitat and watch the native Kentucky butterflies fly from plant to plant as the land on you and flutter around!
If the kids want to search for treasures, purchase a bag of sluice and sift through it in the backyard. Each bag will have either gems or fossils and the kids get to keep every bit of it.
We hope to see you soon at Lost River Cave and Valley!
